Olea europaea aka Olive Tree

Olea europaea, commonly known as the olive tree, is a species native to the Mediterranean Basin, where it has been cultivated for thousands of years for its fruit and oil. It's a symbol of peace, wisdom, and prosperity and is prized for its ornamental value as well as its culinary and cultural significance.

The olive tree is an evergreen tree with a gnarled trunk and silvery-gray foliage. Its leaves are narrow, lance-shaped, and leathery, with a silvery underside that helps to reduce water loss. In spring, small, fragrant, creamy-white flowers bloom in clusters. These flowers give way to small, oval-shaped fruits, which ripen from green to black.

Olive trees prefer a sunny, well-drained location and thrive in Mediterranean or subtropical climates. They can tolerate poor soil conditions, including rocky or sandy soil, as long as it's well-draining. Once established, olive trees are drought-tolerant and relatively low-maintenance. However, they may require occasional pruning to maintain their shape and remove dead or diseased branches.
