The workshop includes a 1-hour lecture and a 1-hour hands-on practice session. Led by Robert Cho, the esteemed local bonsai expert, this seminar will delve into the art of bonsai design, styling, pruning, and potting techniques. Additionally, Robert will touch upon various facets of bonsai care, ensuring you gain a comprehensive understanding of how to nurture your plant.
We will provide each person with a 5-6 year old Procumbens Nana Juniper tree, along with bonsai soil, lava rock, and a ceramic pot.
In addition, all the necessary tools will be provided during the class.
About Robert Cho
Your instructor for this workshop is the esteemed bonsai guru, Robert Cho. With over 30 years of experience as an educator and grower, Robert's mastery is evident through his trees showcased at the Pacific Bonsai Museum.
Robert Cho's profound passion and reverence for nature have been ingrained in him since his early years. Growing up in Indonesia and later moving to China as a teenager, he pursued a degree in Electrical Engineering from Tsinghua University in Beijing. However, he eventually embraced his true calling in the world of bonsai, commencing his career in Asia during the 1980s and later expanding it to the United States. Having resided in diverse climates across the globe, Robert has developed distinctive bonsai training techniques rooted in the Lingnan and Jiangsu styles, infused with influences from Beijing and Min styles. These invaluable life experiences culminate in his unparalleled interpretation of the Art of Bonsai.
Currently based in South King County, Robert continues to embark on regular journeys between North America and Asia, seeking unconventional experiences and novel ideas. Alongside teaching quarterly bonsai classes at South Seattle Community College and delivering lectures at various nurseries throughout Washington State, he also acts as an occasional guest instructor for the Kent and Snoqualmie Valley School Districts. Robert's unwavering dedication lies in passing on his experiences and knowledge, fostering awareness for the Art of Bonsai for generations to come.
